dear Anna!
my husband found that article of yours (he often surfs through the internet to find anything related to our precious trendography :))
uki hasn't seen it yet, but i'm going to post your article in our journal.
of course it's always nice to hear some kind words addressed to you, but leaving all that pride aside, i must say, that this is a great article, providing a real view on our reality.

thank you!

Might be. They all go through the Baltic States (there are processing factories there); most are resold in Russia and Ukraine, because it's much easier and cheaper to mail things to them than to, say, Africa. Well, as I said, it's still a charitable cause for the Russian women (and men).

The problem when you donate clothes to Red Cross, Salvation Army or whatever, is that they are mostly operated by franchise companies; so you actually donate to the companies that make tons of money off of it.

Someone posted a leaflet through my door the other day, asking for clothes.

The way it was worded made it seem like any clothes collected were destined for the third world, but closer inspection of the small print made it clear that the company collecting the clothes were actually planning to sell them.

I wonder if any ended up in Russia...?
