Pravda.ru roundup

by Andy on February 20, 2004

The legendary Communist Party mouthpiece has been coming up with a few interesting stories recently. Yesterday it joined the right wing press in a vicious pincer attack on a famous British institution. Apparently the BBC, that bastion of the left, has been mean to Russia again…

The BBC just loves to find a smear story to report about Russia. If it is not a terrorist attack or a natural disaster, or an accident, it is a military exercise that went wrong. This time, it is the case of the two invisible ballistic missiles.

According to the BBC’s sources (which are famous these days) two ballistic missiles failed to launch in the military exercise in the Barents Sea today due to a failure in a satellite.

It follows this with the truly inspiring story of Natalya Demkina, a teenager from Saransk who has come up with a revolutionary way to cut the operating budgets of Russian hospitals by eliminating the need for expensive ultrasound equipment…

The girl possesses “dual vision”. She is capable of discerning a person’s internal organs without using X-ray or ultrasound.

Natasha has already disproved several medical diagnoses and has not made any mistakes. A series of medical experiments conducted in one of the clinics provide substantial and undeniable proofs of the girls’ unique abilities.

(Natasha and Natalya are the same person, by the way. The reason for the difference in names is that Natasha is a diminutive form of Natalya).

And finally, saving the best for last, Moscow Zoo has made it its mission to educate gorillas. It plans to put a tv set in each of the apes’ cages…

“We want them to pick their noses less and think more instead.”
