Leningrad – 'WWW'

by Andy on April 8, 2007

Time for a bit of Russian ska-punk to wake you all up on a sleepy Easter Sunday.

“WWW” is my favourite track from the anarchic band Leningrad – partly because it seemed to be on the radio on an almost hourly basis when I was studying in Russia back in 2002/3.

And, for the real purists, here’s the same song, performed live:

You can find out more about Leningrad here. Best bit?

The band is known to be disliked by Moscow mayor Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov, who cancelled many of their concerts in the city.

I can’t think of a better endorsement.

Bonus Track: ???? ????? ???? – My name is Shnur – animated by Toondra:

Great song! I first heard it played in the club Tribunal in St. Petersburg (situated to the left of Peter the Great as he sits on his horse). The place went beserk. Needless to say, the locals liked it.

Well done Andy. Its a top-end tune. They’re just brilliant.

Terrific band. My favourite song and video is still “Khujamba.”
