So, British Prime Minister Tony Blair says he’s not going to Moscow for the VE Day celebrations.
Presidential press service quoted by Interfax news agency reported that Blair expressed deep regret he cannot arrive in Moscow due to the forming of the new Cabinet.
This is, of course, complete and utter rubbish. Tony Blair has already formed his new cabinet, and it looks much the same as his last one. The real reason he doesn’t want to go is that he doesn’t want to end up sitting next to Kim Jong Il or Jaques Chirac. Or George Bush for that matter.
While we’re on the subject of the UK elections: Nathan and Laurence’s favourite British politician failed dismally in his attempt to win a seat in Parliament. Former British ambassador to Uzbekistan Craig Murray won just five percent of the vote in Blackburn, a seat comfortably won by Foreign Minister Jack Straw. To add to his woes, ultra left Murray was beaten into fifth place by the ultra-right British National Party.
