10 Things that Roman Abramovich can do with his $13.1 billion

by Andy on September 30, 2005

Now Sibneft is all but sold, and Roman Abramovich is within grasping distance of huge wads of cash, British newspaper The Times has thoughtfully come up with 10 ideas of how he could spend his hard-earned / ill-gotten gains. Here’s a couple that, as a Brit, I thoroughly approve of :

Pay the London congestion charge (£8 every weekday) for slightly under 3.5 million years. Or, pay a year’s Congestion Charge for slightly fewer than 3.5 million Londoners.

Buy an iPod nano (£140 each) for every person in the UK. Strictly speaking, that would cost around £8.5 billion, but we’re assuming that he would get a small discount for buying bulk.

Of course, if he really wanted to be altruistic, he could:

For a single year, double the GDP of every one of the 24 poorest countries in the world.

And I bet he’d still have some loose change left to rattle around his pockets.

It’s sad to think how rich this guy is from stealing it from the Russian people and yet they revere him as a hero for being so rich.
